SkiingWe love this place; Les Gets and the Portes du Soleil are exceptional with an amazing range of slopes for all tastes. You can ski on wide open pistes or take a gentle ski through the trees.
With over 288 ski runs and 650km of pistes, the Portes du Soleil is the largest ski and snowboard area in Europe. |
Ski Beginners |
The area offers easily accessible runs of every level, making it ideal for beginners to gradually progress. With professional tuition from either the Ecole du Ski Francais (ESF) or the British Alpine Ski Schools, beginners will soon gain the skill and confidence to venture up the mountain to explore some of the gentle, tree lined pistes.

Ski Intermediates
|
The Portes du Soleil circuit offers a wide choice of slopes and the local slopes in Les Gets, including the excellent reds on Mont Chéry (lift only 200m from the apartment), make for some great skiing. You can virtually ski back to the apartment! The Portes du Soleil opens up an enormous wealth of opportunities with blue and red runs inter-linking the whole area with wide open runs and tree-lined pistes. You can ski a different region of the Portes du Soleil each day for a week, and still you will not have skied the whole area. A particular challenge is the Portes de Soleil circuit, which takes a full day and visits five Swiss villages Morgins, Champoussin, Torgon, Les Crosets and Champery, as well as Avoriaz, Chatel, Morzine and of course Les Gets in France.

Ski Advanced
|
The world famous ‘Swiss Wall’, a very steep black run, guards the French/Swiss border. There are many other testing blacks, including the World Cup run from Hautes Fortes. The open slopes of Chamossière offer some of the best off-piste locally, with superb steep runs in the Linga and Pre-la-Joux area of Chatel. There is a multitude of mogul fields, powder bowls and steep black pistes, which include the infamous "Wall" and an abundance of off-piste areas, even the most advanced skier would be hard pushed not to be impressed! We are able to direct you to some wonderful off-piste areas like the "Vallee de la Manche" and some hidden valleys that are, well, let's just say well-hidden! That said right on our doorstep behind the apartment, you will find 3 excellent blacks on Mont Chéry plus a wealth of off piste skiing with three good mountain restaurants catering for different tastes.

Snowboarding
|
Welcome to the Snowboard capital of Europe! Les Portes du Soleil has eight dedicated snowboard parks, three half-pipes and 6 boarder-x courses, not to mention vast amounts of off-piste areas and powder couloirs to get the adrenaline pumping in even the most hard-core rider. Les Gets is particularly good for the beginners and intermediates. Again there is a dedicated but underused snow park on Mont Chéry just behind us.

Your ski pass options: |
We suggest that you experience the entire Portes du Soleil, there are fantastic runs for all levels of skiing. However you do have cheaper options for your ski pass and can just ski the Les Gets / Morzine side of the mountain, or Avoriaz. We will be happy to talk you through what you get for your Euro and advise you on the advantages and pitfalls of all the options you have.
